..is thefar right/ fundamentalists that Netanyahu got into bed with to save his own skin are driving this. They see this as the chance to destroy their closest threats and it is unlikely they will cease or negotiate. It would probably need an internal revolt to change that course.
And of course it is exacerbated by the security they feel they get from the unequivocal backing they receive from the US and other nations. They are cynically exploiting that support.
