of Brexit.

To all those people pitching Brexit: congratulations - you’ve got us a ticket on the hedge-fund ride with no return.

According to the Centre for European Reform, the UK economy is already about 5.5% smaller than it would have been if we’d stayed in the EU.

The Office for Budget Responsibility calculates leaving the Single Market and Customs Union will cause a 4% long-run drop in productivity and a 15% drop in trade intensity. obr.uk

The CER translates that hit into roughly £40 billion a year in lost tax revenues — enough to fill much of the so-called “black hole” in the public finances.

Talk about an act of self-harm!

But hey, at least the ‘sovereignty warriors’ got what they wanted: the priceless freedom to drown in paperwork, beg for trade deals we already had, and brag about “taking back control” while the grown-ups quietly calculate how much poorer it’s made us.

In the end, the nationalists who wrapped themselves in the flag managed the rare feat of mistaking self-inflicted damage for patriotism - and they’re still standing there, proud of the wreckage.

EDIT (addition) - I just saw that the pre-Brexit brigade can muster about 30% of the electorate now, Amazed it's that high tbh.
