Mind you Islam also isn't exactly progressive in it's more radical forms and the Uighurs are being persecuted for being Muslims...
It's all pretty nuanced and I think Arty Fufkin makes a valid point - it's pretty hard to carry out objective reporting from behind The Geat Wall...
