The billionaires own most of the media and are now pushing the RN even at the expense of the 'traditional' right/centre-right, and are the sworn enemies of LFI. Our 'Socialist Party' seems to have done a 'Labour', and the various other progressives/greens/left, along with LFI, are fragmented enough to ensure that it is probably impossible to have a representative from the 'left' to oppose RN in the second round of the presidential election. Unless the subterfuge that you refer to is, here, via the illicit funding of rivals to LFI then the billionaires seem content enought to let the left eat itself.
