We can all pick extreme examples of something so as to justify a wider point. I'd equally say to you that rock climbing and mountain biking can be dangerous so should we ban those? The answer, to both your example and mine, for most reasonable people is obvious.

The wider point however is important. To what extent should governments dictate to the individual how they behave. My view, since you ask, is that the starting point in every case should be that there is no state compulsion and instead a reliance on the individual to make sensible choices of their own.
